Description
Auxiliary products are excellent options for modifying the characteristics of our paints. They are divided into different categories. Mediums, especially for modifying the properties of the paint, delaying drying times, or altering the nature of the colors. Gels and textures, which provide body and volume to our paints. And finally, varnishes, which provide extra protection to our work, giving it the desired finish.
- Thinner Medium - Dilutes color without losing adhesion, hardness, and consistency. Increases color transparency and fluidity.
- Matt Base/Medium - When mixed with colors increases fluidity and transparency, makes brushstrokes easier to blend, and improves flexibility and adhesion to the surface. It does not yellow or change color. It can also be used to mix with pigments.
- Gloss Medium - Increases color brilliance, transparency, and fluidity. Quick-drying, flexible, and waterproof. Water-resistant once dry. Clean utensils with water. Do not use as a final varnish.
- Metal Medium - An acrylic medium with mica, which can be mixed with colors to create pearlescent reflections or used alone to achieve silver and iridescent effects.
- Retarder Medium - Mixed with acrylic colors up to a maximum of 10%, it increases color transparency and allows for longer drying times of the film both on the canvas and on the palette.
- Glaze Medium - A colorless patina used for slow-drying glazes and is also used in techniques requiring a delayed drying time. Ideal for pigmented effects.
- Crackle Medium - A water-based medium used between two coats of paint or as a topcoat for a transparent crackle. It's used to simulate aged surfaces.
- Liquid Mask - Used to reserve areas which are to remain unpainted, especially in airbrush techniques. The product forms a protective film on the area which the artists does not want to paint. Once the work is dry, liquid mask is rubbed off revealing the unpainted area. Use with brush. Shake lightly and test on surface before use. Do not leave applied for a long time. To remove, peel or rub carefully once dry. Keep from freezing.
- Plastic Putty - Marble powder paste for modeling. With a white, completely opaque, and consistent finish. Used to repair or restore models, create reliefs, and decorate surfaces. Create and correct details.
