Secretly in development for 4 years, the PG Gundam Astray Red Frame makes its big debut! In keeping with the "Red Frame" designation, the movable frame around which the Perfect Grade series is designed is molded in red, with a completely articulated structure for exciting and flexible posing. Shoulder units can extend outward for expanded range of movement. Elbows feature multi-joint construction, allowing complex poses such as drawing the sword. Stomach unit features full articulation, including "hydraulic" cylinders. Knee armor designed to move along with poses. Calf frame extends and retracts. Battery-powered light-emitting diode (LED) system can be switched on to illuminate the eyes. The Red Frame's trademark weapon, the "Gerbera Straight" long sword, features separate blade, guard, and pommel construction just like a real sword. Blade portion is chromed plastic for a realistic finish, and features engraving on the lower part of the blade. Guard and pommel-end are gold chromed plastic with detailed sculpting. Blade is designed so as to be fastened in the pommel with rivets. The scabbard for the Gerbera Straight incorporates a newly designed suspension unit for connection to the body. Additional accessories include a beam rifle with accurate internal detail, a shield with actual direct-view shutter feature, and two beam sabers. Includes instruction manual, mechanical description, and an original comic drawn by artist Koichi Tokita. CR1220 battery for LED sold separately. Runners x 38, Stickers x 1 and Manual x 1

If you want to get into Perfect Grade kits this would be one of the ones I would suggest. As always the great people at Mecha Warehouse always do a great job getting the kits shipped out. Thank you folks.
Easily one of my favorite builds. The size a completed Perfect Grade is always awesome to see and compare to the smaller grades. Awesome shelf presence, and they Gerbera Straight Katana looks amazing. The metal weights give the build a good heft and low center of gravity, which makes for great posing. Can't wait to get my action stand for it.
Short version review:
If you're an experienced modeler and want a build that will take you a good amount of time and don't mind putting in a little extra effort, this is a great purchase.
I've been a fan of Red Frame since I first the Astray manga when it was released by TokyoPop. Seeing this kit for sale at conventions and hobby stores for years has always tempted me.
After finally get back into the the Gunpla hobby a few years ago and working through a few High Grades and Master Grades, I decided to finally take the plunge and try another Perfect Grade for the first time in 16 years.
Spending an average of 90 minutes a day which included cutting out pieces, filing off nubs, and panel lining, this kit has taken me about two and a half weeks to finish assembling, not counting the finishing touches of applying decals and applying a top coat. I am not an expert builder, but definitely not a newbie either.
-The blade to the Gerbera Straight katana even has a hamon pattern on the plastic, making it look like a real katana blade.
-The gold pieces for the tsuba and butt of the handle have a very high level of detail built onto them.
-This color combination of black, white, and two shades of red compliment each other very well.
-There are three diecast metal pieces that go into the legs and waist of the model, which help balance it and prevent it from being top-heavy.
-The kit comes with some slip-resistant pads to apply to the bottoms of the feet, adding an additional bit of stability.
-There's lots of great places to apply panel lining
-I will say this over and over again, this is a great kit if you want a project that will last you awhile.
-This is a very posable kit. You'll have no shortage of ideas for how to pose it.
Some cons: (ie the few things that keep this review at 4 out of 5)
-Unlike some newer Gunpla kits, all the directions are in Japanese. While most things are clear from the pictures, there are a few items where it can be useful to have the Google Translate app handy on your phone, just to make sure it's clear what you need to do.
-With so many versions of Red Frame in existence, this kit feels a little bare without any special backpack like the flight unit. (I've been told there are some third party upgrade kits for this, but I haven't looked into them.)
-Being a little older for a kit, there's not a lot of undergating on this kit. Be prepared to take your time cutting out pieces carefully and doing some trimming and filing of nubs to make sure pieces look nice. I promise you the extra time will be worth it!
-The previously mentioned gold pieces for the Gerbera Straight do not have any undergating and even the most skilled hands will probably end up chipping a the gold coloring off. I actually found that if I applied a metallic gold Gundam marker, it would strip off the gold color that comes on the pieces, and I could then put a new coat of gold on them. It actually brought out the details on the pieces and made them look even better!
-You need one CR1220 battery for the LED in the head. They aren't took expensive, but in most cases you'll be stuck paying the same price for a 5 or 10 pack as you would a single.
-There are some VERY small pieces in the kit, such as the connections for the LED unit and switch. Keep your workspace clean and remember to pull in your chair so if you accidentally drop a piece it's less likely to fall on the floor.
Overall, I am very happy with this kit and while the finished build looks impressive, what makes this a great purchase is how enjoyable the process is. Those of you who enjoy working on projects that shouldn't be rushed and getting into the zone while build will get a lot of satisfaction. This is great way to level your Gunpla game!
